New Park Hyatt!
We had a memorable experience yesterday: We were the first guests at New York City’s newest five-star super luxury hotel, the Park Hyatt New York. We knew its GM, Walter Brindell, when he was GM of the Park Hyatt DC. When he learned we were going to be in NY, he invited us to be the hotel’s first guests. They were all waiting outside to greet us when we arrived at 11:30am. He’s at right, along with (I know, we’re never in photos) your publishers Mark and Margot Bisnow.
It’s in a great location on 57th Street, across from Carnegie Hall and a block from Central Park. Every detail has been thought out; every aspect of the hotel is elegant simplicity. This is the little treat sitting on the desk in our room when we arrived. It was chocolate, so of course we devoured it. Park Hyatt is Hyatt’s top brand; there are only six in North America: DC, Chicago, Beaver Creek, San Diego, Toronto, and now NY. This will be its flagship.
They brought in Chef Sebastien Archambault, who commanded the kitchen at DC’s Blue Duck Tavern to manage the hotel’s restaurant, The Back Room.
This is the delish lobster salad we had for the first course. Send your vacation photos to TheScene@Bisnow.com.
