Sneaker Ball!
Last night we went to SneakerBall's 11th anniversary at the National Building Museum.
SneakerBall is the only black tie and sneakers gala that annually celebrates the best of sports in the DC region. We snapped the emcee, ESPN bureau reporter Britt McHenry, with the Capitals Red Rockers.
The gala benefited the Greater Washington Sports Alliance Foundation, which invests in emerging non-profits that use sports to enhance children's lives. Here, its chairman and Digital Global Systems CEO Fernando Murias with ‘Skins president of business operations Dennis Greene and his wife Lynne.
Former ‘Skins linebacker London Fletcher was inducted into the Greater Washington Sports Hall of Champions at the gala. By the end of last season, he had started in 215 consecutive games, which set an NFL record for linebackers. He’s bookended by NFL Players president Keith Gordon and Arjuna Solutions’ Stephen Goodman.
There was a silent auction during the cocktail hour, dinner, awards ceremony, an after party at the museum, and an after-after party at the Huxley. Here, Beam Events brand manager Theo Abbott is flanked by ‘Skins Cheerleaders.
The Greater Washington Sports Alliance athlete of the year is Olympic gold medal swimmer Katie Ledecky. The Sports Alliance is working to bring the Olympics to DC.
The Mpire Club, a three-week-old restaurant in Georgetown, provided food at the reception. Here, its president Adrian Kundanmal, VIP hostess Teresa Daigle, and exec chef Alika Keone.
