Sondheim Gala
Last night we headed to the Italian Embassy for Signature Theatre's Sondheim Award Gala.
We snapped Italian Ambassador Claudio Bisogniero with Feld Entertainment’s Bonnie Feld, Signature Music Director Jon Kalbfleisch, and Broadway star Pamela Meyers, who performed Another Hundred People from Company.
Legendary orchestrator Jonathan Tunick is one of only 12 people to have won all four major American show biz awards: Academy Award, Tony, Emmy, and Grammy. Here, he accepts the fifth Sondheim Award from Signature Theatre artistic director Eric Schaeffer. Then he conducted the gala orchestra in the Follies overture to a standing ovation.
Signature’s Jennifer Buzzell joins MLA Strategies’ Holly Page and Fortune magazine senior editor Nina Easton. Later, Heidi Blickenstaff thrilled as she sang What I did for Love from the Broadway classic A Chorus Line.
Rep. Norm Dicks and his wife Suzie, Gala chair Tim Keating and his wife Ann, and Boeing VP Jennifer Lowe and her husband, American Gas Assn’s George Lowe.
We caught Signature Theatre’s Jessica Aimone and Ian Frazier during the three-course meal with delish seafood linguini.
