Taste of the South!
We joined 2,000 at the 32nd annual Taste of the South at the Washington Hilton Saturday to raise funds for Louisville’s West End School, which provides free, college-prep education for at-risk boys. We snapped gala chair and Sen. Alexander staffer Sarah Fairchild flanked by vice chair Chelsee Woodey and secretary and the RNC's Leslie Shedd.
Taste of the South also supports the Lupus Foundation; the local chapter provides free education, support and outreach to the 80,000 people living with the disease in this area. Here, Bruce and Maggie Bowen and Abbtech’s Kennon Jones.
Each of the 13 state committees sponsored a table featuring regional cuisine and specialty products, and listing an additional charity in their state that was supported. Here, Rep. Sean Duffy staffer Cassie Smedlie, Rep. Mike Rogers staffer Mary Randolph Carpenter, and Portland Cement’s Mary Holland.
The band Attraction performed; dishes included fried catfish filets, country ham, pulled pork, king cake, and key lime pie. Here, Norfolk Southern’s Drew Marrs with Senate staffer Stephanie Fontenot.
Merjan Bubernack, Richelle Manansala, and Alfredo Flores contributed to this issue.
