Africa Day!
Last night we headed downtown to the JW Marriott for the Africa Day Celebration.
We snapped civil rights leader Jessie Jackson with Embassy liaison Jan DuPlain and co-chair Egyptian Ambassador Mohamed Tawfik. Africa Day commemorates the 52nd anniversary of the founding of the Organization for African Unity, now the African Union. Ambassadors from over 50 African countries joined the festivities.
The State Department's Desiree Cormier, Caroline Berson, Sol Black and Chris Spangler. Prior to the dinner program, a cocktail reception had delicious appetizers, an open bar and information booths for each country.
Angolan Ambassador Agostinho Tavares joins the Ambassador from Congo Faida Mitifu and Sentel Corp's Dr. Bob Wright. Guests were treated to a delicious three-course dinner featuring short ribs and lemon bars.
Ambassador of Algeria Madjid Bouguerra and his wife surround Ambassador of Uganda Oliver Wonekha.
Business Council for International Understanding SVP Jeffrey Donald and CEO Peter Tichansky flank Global Business Strategies' Marysue Shore.
