Albert Small Museum!
Also last night, we went to George Washington University as Albert Small Sr. (third from right, surrounded by his beautiful family) was honored for donating what GW president Steve Knapp (third from left) called his “astounding” collection of materials on the early development of Washington, DC. They’ve been put on permanent exhibit at the GW museum.
We also snapped Mortimer Caplin, who at nearly 99 years old, remembers much of DC history, was JFK’s Commissioner of the IRS, and during World War II served as US Navy beachmaster during the invasion of Normandy on D-Day, in charge of the disembarkation of troops and munitions from landing craft.
