Art All Night - Nuit Blanche!
Saturday we went to Art All Night: Nuit Blanche at North Capitol Main Street, an all-night exploration and celebration of contemporary art that covered five vibrant DC neighborhoods. We snapped Senate staffer Benya Kraus with Carly Calbreath and Kristen Velloza.
The festival was presented by DC Commission on the Arts & Humanities in association with North Capitol, Dupont, H Street NE, and Shaw Main Streets. Here, Chesapeake Climate Action Network’s Shilpa Joshi with visual artist Chloe Rubenstein in front of her mural.
Everyone watched visual artists creating new works of art, fire dancers, acrobats, Saffron Dance belly dancers, and a drum performance by the Batala group. Here, Azul played Berber, Gwana, Moorish and Andalusian music.
North Capitol Main Street art was curated by Art Soiree; over 90 artists exhibited their work, and local bands took the stage every hour at the intersection of N Capitol St and Florida Ave. Here, NAS' Dorothy Cash, program coordinator Roberto Basilico and engineer Paolo Omenetti.
Richelle Manansala, Travis Holler & Alfredo Flores contributed to this issue.
