Best Buddies Prom!
We went to the Carnegie Library to join 800 Best Buddies students and DC movers and shakers for the third annual Best Buddies Capital Region Prom, and snapped Miss DC USA’s Deshauna Barber, Ryan Farrell, and Miss DC Teen USA’s Dylan Murphy.
DJ Neekola had the crowd on their feet dancing, while celebrating a memorable night of friendship and inclusion. Here, Declan Lemps and Lindsey Ellison.
Best Buddies paves the way by establishing one-to-one friendships, integrated employment, and leadership development for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Here, Kit Check’s Kyle Heidenberger, former US Senate candidate and NAM's Chrys Kefalas, and NHCAA’s Michael Williams.
Adults enjoyed drinks, passed hors d’oeuvres, and a live and silent auction, while snacking on delicious food prepared by DC’s hottest chefs and student “sous chefs” from local Best Buddies programs. Here, Independent Journal Review’s Amanda Ghessie, Makin’ Whoopie’s Kimberly Robinson and National Journal’s Sara Mazzoleni.
