Best Buddies Prom!
Friday night, we headed to the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center for the fourth annual Best Buddies Prom.
We joined more than 1,000 students and adult supporters to celebrate friendship and promote inclusion for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. We snapped Connor O’Donnell with Best Buddies chairman for the Capital Region and 94.7 FRESH FM’s Tommy McFly.
The night was a success, with $300K raised, allowing Best Buddies Capital Region to start a "Citizens" program through which adults with disabilities can find one-on-one friendship with people their own age. We snapped Washington Capitals coach Barry Trotz, who has been a big supporter of the Best Buddies community, with Brightline Strategies’ Mitchell Ferrero.
Attendees enjoyed an open bar and silent auction, as well as delicious food prepared by notable DC chefs alongside Best Buddies student sous chefs. Miss District of Columbia Kára McCullough snacked on some "melt in your mouth" sushi from MGM executive chef Jason Johnston and George C. Marshall Best Buddies’ Erica Liu’s station.
DJ Neekola kept the party going on the dance floor as attendees were able to witness Best Buddies’ mission of social inclusion firsthand.
