Color the Night-Brighten the Future!

Last night we went to Howard Theatre to enjoy an evening of performing arts at the Color the Night-Brighten the Future Gala.

The evening was a tribute to the Sitar Arts Center. We snapped its 2016 Artistic Honoree for his contributions to the DC community, The Washington Ballet’s Septime Webre, right, with Marc Cipullo.

As guests entered, they were greeted by young ballerinas in white tutus passing out programs and butler-passed orange crushes. A silent auction had tickets to The Nutcracker and The Newseum, as well as an electric guitar. Here, Production Solutions’ Greg Albright, Board member Melissa Barcomb-Doyle, and The Halifax Group’s Ken Doyle.

The cocktail reception featured wine, burgers, stuffed peppers, hummus, and grilled vegetables. Here, Elijah Turner and his wife, DOE’s Gabrielle Turner (center), with co-chairs Patricia and Lloyd Howell (second and fourth from left) and Montgomery County’s Anastasia Bagliore.

The Sitar Arts Center advances the critical life skills of underserved children and youth and prepares them for achievement through visual, performing, and digital arts education in a nurturing community. Stoiber & Associates architect Alexandra Dahlman is helping to design the new Sitar Arts Center. She's surrounded by Arnold & Porter’s Kevin Lavin and dance teacher Mora Solano, and by NIST’s Paul Salipante.
