DC CAP!
Last night we also went to the 8th annual DC Capital Stars Gala at the Kennedy Center. DC Cap encourages DC public school students to enroll and excel in college. The Stars Gala brings out students' musical talents in a friendly competition to raise money for scholarships, programs and activities. We snapped Graham Holdings' Don Graham, former owner of the Washington Post, and DC CAP chairman Ted Leonsis.
DC CAP president Argelia Rodriguez is with Radio One disc jockey Donnie Simpson, who was one of the celebrity judges, along with musician Mark Rivera, TV star Kellie Williams, and So You Think You Can Dance's Fik Shun.
There were 10 DC Capital Stars finalists. The second and third place winners were Ellington School of the Arts seniors, singer Samira Plummer and dancer Eriq Bridgett. The emcee, ABC 7's Leon Harris, announced the winner, Wilson High School senior and opera singer Saloni Rao, who was awarded a $10k scholarship. Congrats to all!
After the wonderful performances, guests went to the Roof Terrace for an after party and dancing to a band. Everyone was greeted with wine, a display of cheese, truffle mac n' cheese, spinach and goat cheese dip, and grilled prosciutto sandwiches. Here, Ramsey Asset Management's Russ Ramsey, Marcy Cohen, and Monumental Sports & Entertainment's Neil Cohen and Jack Davies.
