Dreams for Kids DC Caps Clinic!
We joined Dreams for Kids DC in partnership with The Washington Capitals at Kettler Iceplex for a special hockey clinic. We snapped Caps defenseman Taylor Chorney, who told us it was great to be there to pick these kids up when they fall, and to give them some tips.
The annual event hosted by the nonprofit welcomed more than 100 kids with physical and developmental disabilities from the DC area, many of them hitting the ice for the first time with some of DC’s super talent, like Caps forward Tom Wilson, here with John.
Each child was paired with a volunteer, so they had a full day of one-on-one attention with a new friend. Caps mascot Slapshot joined lead sponsor Darcars VP Jennifer Darvish Parsons with her son Jack who volunteered, here with his buddy John.
These clinics are the perfect environment for kids with disabilities to meet others like them, so they know they are not alone. Plus they have SO much fun and go home with signed T-shirts. Here, longtime DFKDC volunteers Kevin Chesley and his brother Kiel, here with Antonio.
