Hill Center Gallery Reception!
Last night, we headed to the Hill Center in Eastern Market for the opening reception for the Capitol Hill Art League's Juried Invitational Exhibition.
We snapped artist Paula Cleggett in front of her painting, "Sunday Morning Biscuits," with Hill Center Galleries Director Nicky Cymrot and NASA's Margaret Roberts, Cleggett's former colleague.
The Hill Center, formerly the Old Naval Hospital, was transformed into a vibrant community center that routinely showcases art exhibitions, lectures, performances, and as a community meeting place. Here, acclaimed contemporary artist Matt Sesow joins his friend, artist Charlie Visconage, with his pieces surrounding them. Sesow and Visconage routinely will "drink and draw" where they go to local bars, drink and then create art together.
This current exhibition, a Capital Hill Art League juried selection of art made up of local artists, will run through the end of February. Here, Hill Center supporters and neighbors Willi and Rita Ehreiser join photographer Karen Cohen next to her piece, which was judged "Best in Show."
Guests enjoyed a selection of appetizers and wine while enjoying the three floors of artwork. Here, travel photographer Jake McGuire joins environmental policy consultant Julia Radice with graphic designer Daryn Koo and human rights activist Caitlin Watson.
