Jake Gyllenhaal & DC Greens!
Last night we were delighted to attend DC Greens spring benefit, the K Street Farm Dinner, which, due to rain, moved to Union Market.
Famed actor Jake Gyllenhaal, just back from the Cannes Film Festival, where he served on the jury, told us he came to DC from NY for the evening, because he cares so much about healthy eating and wants everyone, rich or poor, to have access to healthy food. We snapped him, right, with DC Council Member Alexander's staffer Osa Imadojemu, Ward 6 Council Member Charles Allen, Five Corners Strategies campaign director Bo Shuff, and DC Greens executive director Lauren Shweder Biel.
DC Greens is making healthy food available to all using urban agriculture. Here, its chairman and Goldman Sachs' David Perlin is surrounded by Nourish Schools' Casey Seidenberg and Gina Coburn.
Coffee was provided by 7th Street hotspot Compass Coffee. Here, founders Michael Haft and Harrison Suarez.
Other delectable treats were provided by Rappahannock Oysters, Owen Thompson cocktails, Virginia Prosciutto and Early Mountain Vineyards. Here, Carlyle's Allan Holt, Bernstein Co' Marc Duber and Monumental Sports' Jack Davies.
An extraordinary farm to table dinner was provided by many of DC's top chefs: kale salad by Bernaise's Spike Mendelsohn, spaghetti chitarra by Kapnos' Mike Isabella, strawberry gazpacho by MiniBar's Ruben Garcia, roasted sea bass by Volt's Bryan Voltaggio, and suckling pig and grain salad by Red Hen's Mike Friedman and Dabney's Jeremiah Langhorne. There was music by City of the Sun, which is opening for Magic Giant this Sunday evening at DC9; ticket info in Where to be Scene below.
