Jane Goodall!
We were thrilled on Earth Day to have the opportunity to meet an icon, Jane Goodall.
The anthropological pioneer, now 81, travels 300 days a year and was at the home of Daphna Tapiero and her husband, Alan Fleischmann, here with their daughters, to talk to folks in DC about why she’s become so passionate about conservation and the environment.
As regular readers of The Scene know, we don’t have the same person’s picture in twice in one issue, but we happily break that rule for living legends. Here, Jane's surrounded by former USAID Administrator Raj Shah and his wife, Shivam. He led a fireside chat with Jane before dinner, asking her about her childhood in London, and how she became so interested in chimpanzees in Africa.
Earlier in the day, Jane held a group of kids in rapt attention at the National Zoo, talking about animals and conservation, after a walk and scavenger hunt.
