Kidney Foundation Congressional Dinner!
Last night we went to the National Kidney Foundation second annual Congressional Dinner at the Liaison Hotel.
We snapped EagleBank CEO Ron Paul, right, who's received two donated kidneys over the last 25 years, one from his brother and one from his CFO, and is now on the National Kidney Foundation board. He's with his wife, Joy, and Porterfield Lowenthal’s Jeremy Rabinovitz.
The NKF honored Sen Dick Durbin for his work on behalf of the millions of Americans affected by kidney disease. He's surrounded by dinner chair former HHS Secretary and governor Tommy Thompson; emcee FOX 5 News reporter Sherri Ly, who donated a kidney to her brother; NKF Chairman elect Art Pasquarella, who also donated a kidney to his brother; and by Jonathan Aponte, who gave a moving account of his struggles with dialysis before he received a kidney; and NKF Capital Area executive director Michele Anthony.
NFK'S Tonya Saffer, Rachel and her husband, Chris Blevins, who donated his kidney to save his son Logan's life in 2013.
MD Congressman Michael Burgess, here with Vifor’s Rick Goulburn, was also honored for his work by the National Kidney Foundation, which works for prevention and treatment of kidney disease for millions.
