MLK Choral Arts Concert!
We celebrated Living the Dream…Singing the Dream, the 27th annual Choral Arts tribute concert at The Kennedy Center in honor of Martin Luther King Jr.
The evening honored Dr. C.T. Vivian with the 2015 Humanitarian Award for his work, which began as an executive staffer for MLK Jr. and turned into a lifetime passion for civil rights, diversity and leadership advocacy. We snapped him flanked by Choral Arts Artistic Director Scott Tucker and Executive Director Debra Kraft; at left, his daughter Denise Morse and C.T. Vivian Leadership Institute SVP Don Rivers.
Hundreds of concert goers enjoyed over two hours of powerful music by the Choral Arts Society, the Washington Performing Arts Society, and Men, Women and Children of the Gospel Choirs, and a song and dance portion led by the artistic directors.
The Choral Arts MLK Community Initiative serves to unite the greater DC community in remembrance of the iconic leader’s ideals of nonviolence, equality, peace and justice. Here, Margaret Washnitzer, Althea Bacon and Choral Arts Women’s Committee member Claudia McKion.
