Race for the Cure!
Saturday morning we went to the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure to rally against breast cancer as fundraising teams banded together to increase their impact. We snapped teammates from Team Clark Construction: Brooke Phelps, Laura Maloney and Michael Johnsen.
Starting and ending at the National Monument, the Race toured DC's historical sites. Here, gov worker Jeff Decker, Neibaur Dental's Amy Fazar, Patrick Frost and DOD's Tracey Frost.
The race also celebrates breast cancer survivors. Here, the Shannon Gang Team: 15 year survivor McLean School's Elizabeth Shannon (pink wig) is surrounded by her family: daughters Towson's Maia Shannon and Whitman Walker's Chloe Shannon, husband Potomac School's Daniel Shannon, and son Telecard Network's Noel Shannon.
Originating in 1983, the Komen Race for the Cure Series has grown from one race in Dallas to a global series of more than 150 Races with over 1 million participants. This year, DC racers raised $884,000.
