Ramen World!
Sunday afternoon, we headed to Mess Hall in Brookland for the third annual Ramen World! We snapped Daikaya and Haikan's chef Katsuya Fukushima with Mess Hall founder Al Goldberg and Sushi Taro's chef Jin Yamazaki.
In two different afternoon sessions, attendees sampled amazing ramen and other Japanese bites from the likes of Haikan, Sushi Taro, Bantam King, Alfie's, Thip Khao, Paper Horse and PhoWheels. Here, Justin McKnight joins Chaney Steinke and her brother, Tevin Steinke, and Christine Nguyen.
Attendees stayed hydrated with Kirin Ichiban beer, and various cocktails made from Japanese Suntory whiskey. Here, DC friends Alex Pierson, Stacy Delight, Stephanie Fishman, Justin Nusbaum and Ashley Long.
DJ Ayes Cold mixed together great hip-hop and R&B with Japanese pop songs for the attendees' enjoyment. Here, True Syrups' and Mess Hall member Ben Alt joins Mess Hall's Kate Morton and graphic designer Jessica Galpin.
After an afternoon of ramen deliciousness, attendees enjoyed matcha green tea ice cream from Munch. Here, public health researcher Noelle Miesfeld with Trunk Club's Lauren Fraley and DoD's Julienne Denecke.
In addition to the ramen, guests enjoyed curried potato fries with Thai herb infused ranch from Doi Moi, and a Ramen "sandwich" deemed "Lil Mac" seen here being prepared by chef Katsuya Fukushima's team at Haikan.
