Simon Doonan!
We went on to the Sixth & I Historic Synagogue to see Simon Doonan discuss his newest book The Asylum: True Tales of Madness From a Life in Fashion. We snapped him with Sixth & I associate director Jackie Leventhal.
Doonan, the Creative Ambassador at Large for Barneys New York, has spent his entire career in fashion, and during the discussion said that he believes his fashion industry peers are nuts: they have a predilection for theatrical make-up, artfully destroy clothing, and suffer from illusions of grandeur. Here, marketing professional Karen Niedzielski with Lewis & Harrison’s Cathy McKay.
Doonan said he's seen it all, from models unable to work for fear of ghosts to Anna Wintour remaining serenely calm while the ceiling fell down during Fashion Week. Here, Bipartisan Policy Center’s Michael Thorning and Lindsay Boroush.
Following the discussion, Doonan signed copies of his book, which is a collection of his autobiographical essays about the kooky, cut-throat, fabulous fashion world. Here, international lawyer Dorian Mazurkevich with graphic designer and owner of Studio Leblon, Christina Sawicky.
