The Global Beat!
Last night we also went to The Global Beat, celebrating journalism around the world on the occassion of the White House Correspondents' Dinner at the UN Foundation HQ. We snapped four-time Emmy winning actress and political activist Alfre Woodard bookended by the event's sponsor's, Devex President and Editor-in-Chief Raj Kumar and Foreign Affairs editor Gideon Rose; right, Western Union's Bill Bradley.
The Global Beat is named for the beat reporters who cover international affairs and global thinkers. Here, UN Foundation's Ambassador Elizabeth Cousens, Jynwel Charitable Foundation director Jho Low, DPI’s Deborah Seward and Thomson Reuters Foundation's Nicolas Bellet.
There was a cocktail reception and speeches; a highlight was one by Alfre Woodard, who played the President on NBC's State of Affairs, and music by diplomat and DJ Ben Chang. Here, Handshake CEO JR Kerr is bookended by the UN Foundation's Caleb Tille and Rick Parnell; left, his colleague Kathleen Ralston.
The Global Beat also celebrated Global Daily, the new online resource from the UN Foundation’s curated news stories. Here, Blue State Digital’s Sarah Newhall and Gillea Allison flank InterAction’s Deborah Willig.
