Prevent Cancer!
More than 900 guests were transported to a magical evening in Paris at the National Building Museum, raising $1.6M at the Prevent Cancer Foundation’s 22nd annual spring gala. French Ambassador Gérard Araud, the Honorary Patron, talked about the critical importance of early detection. He's with the Irish Ambassador, Anne Anderson.
Since its inception, the Foundation has provided $142M for cancer prevention, early detection research, education, outreach and advocacy. Representative Diana DeGette, who along with chairman Fred Upton was honored for work on the 21st Century Cures Act, is bookended by her husband, attorney Lino Lipinsky, and by Prevent Cancer Foundation's Lisa McGovern and her husband, Rep. Jim McGovern.
The late Congressman Mike Oxley was honored; his son Elvis Oxley spoke in memory of his dad, before handing the stage to WUSA9’s Andrea Roane, who raised $40k for the Michael G. Oxley Lung Cancer Research Fund. She's surrounded by Prevent Cancer's Lisa Han, Kennesha Baldwin and Melissa Farnum.
