Turn Up The Heat!
Wednesday, we went to the the 12th annual Turn Up The Heat — A Celebration of Women Chefs at The Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center. We snapped Ovarian Cancer Research Fund Alliance president and CEO Audra Moran and “Chef on Fire” award recipient, chef Amy Brandwein of Centrolina, who has participated in every Turn Up The Heat and served guests Piadini of Robiolina with mustard greens. The award recognizes the accomplishments of a female chef in the DC area.
More than 400 guests attended and indulged in the food and drinks from 52 DC-area female chefs and mixologists. Here, Firefly executive chef Jammir Gray, who served duck confit Cappelletti, with National Press Club sous chef Mauricio Aguilera and exec chef Susan Dilbert, who served Japanese coconut chicken strips, and Clyde’s executive chef Naeroby Nunez, who served Buckwheat Blini, smoked sable and trout caviar.
The event has raised more than $2.2M since its inception in 2006. Here, Open Table’s Megan Pattee and Carley Thomas with Silas Taylor and Ovarian Cancer Research Fund Alliance board member Jennifer Arminger.
Proceeds from the event will fund ovarian cancer research, advocacy efforts and Ovarian Cancer Research Fund Alliance support programs. Here, Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center’s Jen Hurst, Laurel Miller and Melanie Soley.
