Wilson Center Party!
Last night we went to a grand estate in Potomac to learn more about the Wilson Center.
We snapped Wilson Center president, former Congresswoman Jane Harman, hugging the evening’s speaker, Sen. Susan Collins, whom she said she bonded with when they were reviewing US intelligence failures. The traffic up River Road was dreadful, and the former Congresswoman joked it had taken almost as long to get there as it did to get to the Senator’s wedding in Maine.
The dinner was hosted by Frank Islam, right, who graciously urged the 80 guests to roam through his gorgeous, manicured 10 acre estate. He’s with architect Christian Zapatka and Danielle Paris Canfield.
PEN/Faulkner’s Willee Lewis, whom Frank thanked for helping organize the dinner, Wilson Center’s Jane Stetson, Frank’s wife and party hostess Debbie Driesman, and Nina Pillsbury. Guest enjoyed cocktails on the terrace during the magnificent evening.
We learned that the Wilson Center is the country’s leading nonpartisan policy institution providing research, dialogue and proposed solutions on global issues. Here, commercial real estate guru George Webb, CQ’s Finlay Lewis and starchitect Shalom Baranes.
